A Literary Iftar

A delightful evening spent interviewing award-winning author Tharik Hussain at a ‘Literary Iftar’ @ Crate in Walthamstow on 28 March, organised by Summersdale Publishers

Tharik Hussain is a writer who specialises in Muslim heritage and culture. He is also a travel writer, journalist and a heritage activist who has produced award-winning radio for the BBC.

We talked about what inspired Tharik to become a writer and travel writer especially as the genre was dominated at the time by mainly white men.

We explored some of his work including as an author for the well-known Lonely Planet books, and has written many guides for them as a specialist in Muslim culture. These included places like Saudi Arabia and exploring the little known Muslim heritage of Thailand. He has also written guides to Britain and London.

Tharik’s latest book ‘Ramadan Mubarak: A Little Inspiration for the Blessed Month’ - (which we focused on discussing today)- published by Summersdale, is filled with inspiring verses from the Qur’an, hadith and quotes by prominent Muslim figures from the past and present. The book is so uplifting and inspiring - and takes the reader on a journey for a peaceful and purposeful Ramadan.

Always a pleasure to listen to Tharik - and his latest book can be purchased here:
